Welcome!
Welcome – you have discovered South Bend, the county seat of Pacific County; a city of some 1,700 located on the Willapa River in the heart of timber country and home to major seafood processors – oyster, shrimp, tuna, clams, - all available fresh or processed.
The river invites boating of all kinds – power boating, canoeing, kayaking and commercial – all able to take advantage of the city’s new docks and boat launch.
The city’s restaurants offer a variety of menus - enough to satisfy the most discerning of taste buds (American, Chinese, Mexican and barbeque). In addition the well-stocked grocery store offers a deli comparable to any major store’s offerings. Perhaps your taste buds lean towards oysters? The local “Oyster Bar” offers incredibly fresh oysters, juicy burgers and more. The oysters have been recognized as far away as New York!
All of this within walking distance of available parking downtown.
A visit to the nationally famous Pacific County Courthouse should be on your agenda or perhaps a peek into our antique stores, our local museum or for unique gifts, the local pharmacy.
Please stop by and enjoy a quiet and restful break from the pressures of the travel.
In a recent edition of Forbes.com South Bend was named one of 12 small town getaways. According to Forbes - No matter what part of the country you live in, there's a charming small town nearby.
