Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant Project

In May 2006, the city councils of South Bend and Raymond met in joint session for what was reported to be the first time that they had ever done so. This meeting was the start of a process whereby an agreement was reached between the cities to construct regional wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities. Meeting about once a month, elected officials and concerned citizens from both communities crafted the agreement. After two years of development, the Intergovernmental Contract was signed by the cities in May 2008.

Park Plan

 

The citizens of South Bend can boast of eight city-owned parks that range in size from the five-
acre Community Park down to the pocket-sized Helen Davis Park. There are five parks owned
by other jurisdictions as well. Located in neighborhoods, along the waterfront, and in natural
areas, the City of South Bend park system is quite diverse and supports a multitude of activities.
