Mosquito Spraying

MOSQUITO INFORMATION
The City of South Bend’s tentative dates of planned larvicide treatments to water are: June 11-22, July 9-20, Aug. 13-24, and Sept. 10-21. The larvicide treatments locations are: Mill Pond, Sewage Treatment Plant, Pacific County Courthouse Pond, and the drainage ditches behind the school and ball fields. Larvicide name: Vectolex CG, active ingredient: Basillus Sphaericus.
Tentative dates of planned fogging treatments to land are July 16-29, Aug. 13-19, Aug. 27-31, Sept. 10-16, and Sept. 24-30. Fogging treatment locations: all public areas and opt-in residential locations. Fogging product name: Kontrol 4-4, active ingredient: Permethrin and Piperonyl Butoxide Technical. The application time for fogging will begin around 12pm and finish no later than 8pm.
If you wish to be put on the no spray list please complete the Mosquito Fogging Opt-out Form or come into City Hall to fill out the Opt-Out Form. If you do not fill out this form your residence will be fogged.
If you have any questions please call City Hall at (360) 875-5571. Whitworth Pest Solutions, Inc. at (253) 845-1818 will be treating for mosquitoes in South Bend, WA under the Aquatic Mosquito Control General Permit issued by the Washington State Department of Ecology.
To Help Reduce Mosquitoes
- Dispose of open containers which can fill with water
- Properly dispose of discarded tires.
- Empty birds’ baths and fill with fresh water at least once a week.
- Check and clean clogged roof gutters at least twice annually so they will drain properly.
- Turn over plastic wading pools when not in use.
- Turn over wheelbarrows.
- Aerate ornamental pools or stock them with fish.
- Use landscaping to eliminate standing water that collects on your property.
- Children’s toys and tarps covering cars, boat, and other equipment can also hold water.
- Cover trash containers to prevent rainwater accumulation.
- Tarp boats and canoes or turn them over.
- Keep ditches and streams adjoining your property free of grass clippings, garbage, and other debris, with will obstruct the natural flow of water.
