The river invites boating of all kinds – power boating, canoeing, kayaking and commercial – all able to take advantage of the city’s new docks and boat launch.

The city’s restaurants offer a variety of menus - enough to satisfy the most discerning of taste buds (American, Chinese, Mexican and barbeque). In addition the well-stocked grocery store offers a deli comparable to any major store’s offerings. Perhaps your taste buds lean towards oysters? The local “Oyster Bar” offers incredibly fresh oysters, juicy burgers and more. The oysters have been recognized as far away as New York!

All of this within walking distance of available parking downtown.

DISPOSE OF YOUR OWN REFUSE

  • South Bend residents may take ONE free pickup load of “general waste” materials to Royal Heights Transfer Station.
  • Customers will be required to pay the transfer station for any brush, tires, or appliances they transport.
  • A current City of South Bend garbage bill must be presented at the transfer station during delivery as confirmation of service.
  • Customers may take refuse to the Transfer Station during normal business hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, May 15 to May 19, 2012.
