Amendments to Zoning Code

Proposal:	The City of South Bend is proposing several amendments to Chapter 15.20 SBMC, Zoning Ordinance. The first amendment adds three new definitions to SMBC 15.04.020. The second amendment adds new requirements regarding the parking of recreational vehicles (RVs) and boats on the public right-of-way and their use as living accommodations on private property. The third amendment pertains to the siting of cargo shipping containers and semitrailers on private property. The fourth amendment changes Temporary Use Permits from a Type 2 to a Type 1 permit. This action will reduce the administrative requirements and cost for issuing a Temporary Use Permit. A full text of the proposed amendments is available in the document section below.

Important Dates:	A Planning Commission Public Hearing on the proposed amendments is scheduled for June 10, 2021 at 12:00 PM via Zoom. The Notice of Application contains information for accessing the meeting and submitting written comments.

South Bend City Dock Repair

Proposal:	This project entails: 1) removing and disposing of 196’ X 8’ solid decking of damaged float and reinstallation of a new float of the same size with 50% composite decking and 50% grating attached to fully encapsulated polyethylene foam tubs; 2) removal of thirteen 12” damaged pipe pile and reinstallation of thirteen 12” galvanized steel piles; and 3) reconnection of water and electrical services from the undamaged section of dock to the section being replaced. This project is exempt under the Shoreline Master Program and is exempt under the State Environmental Policy Act.

South Bend School District Turf Replacement
